The prevailing torque nut replaces the factory countershaft nut and retaining plate for the KLR650 1995 and later. Tired of bending the retaining washer over the nut? Want to change sprockets more easily? Here's the easy solution. The factory nut is a 27 mm (1 1/16" will also work). This prevailing torque nut uses a 30 mm socket, although 1 3/16" will also work. Please torque this (if you have a torque wrench) to 72 ft-lbs, (same as the factory specification.
