Happy Trails Skid Plate G650GS/F650GS Single

A quality skid plate is a must-have item for serious off road riding. Our Happy Trails skid plate improves upon a basic proven skid plate design that we have been offering for over a decade.

Many 650GS models come with a thin 2mm (0.08") aluminum protection plate which is usually adequate if your plan is to stay on the paved roads or maybe some low speed gravel. But for anything more, it leaves too many vulnerable areas, especially on the sides of the engine case and bottom rear of the engine where large trail rocks or tree branches can easily punch through the case and quickly end your ride. The optional OEM tubular skid plate "cage" does add some additional front and side protection, but still leaves the rear of the engine vulnerable -- and weighs in at 6.7 additional pounds.

Happy Trails utilizes 3/16" (0.188) fully welded aluminum throughout for maximum durability and protection while providing plenty of side and full bottom of the engine protection. We then mount to the frame at 5 locations for a very secure fit. And finally we provide rubber frame rail isolators to help disperse impacts to the bottom of the plate while providing a level of sound dampening from flying rocks and debris.

All HTP skid plates are hand-bent, fitted, and welded at our factory in Boise, Idaho, before applying a durable Hammertone Black color powder coat finish to match our racks and Nerf bars.
